A new Frontier!

 Space Travel?

From tourism to Mars and beyond in the next one hundred years, colonies and the Internet will be superseded by new things and we might begin the mission to our nearest star in the hope of making contact with other aliens!

Will we ever get to a large Space ship is a unknown, since we do not as yet fully know how we might get through the Kuiper belt and how does gravity act outside our own Solar system?

But we will establish colonies on Mars, the Moon and some other planets, while others will be for research and science perhaps further out!

Without a new shuttle being developed, we will be limited since Space-X is not advanced as it is claimed to be and it all depends on how much money can be invested now to keep the International Space Station operating and getting updated, if not rebuilt in Space?

Has COVID-19 destroyed the travel Business?

 Airlines Recovering!

It would seem after the past two years of this Pandemic the airline industry has suffered, but now it is coming back since we cannot live without global travel?

Freight was the mainstay of aviation with the parcel carriers and even Amazon getting on into their own aircraft in Europe and joining the movers and shakers perhaps some of this investment has made its way into developing space tourism?

Social distancing remains a key factor in flying, with the restrictions coming down it has caused a uptake once more on COVID infections to rise, only time will tell!

New airports and Runways.

Heathrow third Runway?

Pollution and plastics are big news at the moment in the media and so is the plans to build new airports and a third runway at Heathrow in West-London to take new types of aircraft such as the Boeing 777X, while the governments claim that they will have cut carbon emissions by 2050?

There is some serious hypocrisy being carried out here, by the airlines and the governments and it is not limited to one or two nations, but is going on worldwide. Air travel is growing, because people want o fly and smaller aircraft feeding smaller airports at this time is popular!

We expect that by 2030 some of the new electric powered aircraft will be starting to make a large impact on aviation travel and aircraft such as the Airbus A380, Boeing 747-8 and other large types will be at an end?

Communities are being destroyed in London and maybe in Kent in the U.K., while in China locals get no choices to the expansion programmes of their governments!

The Moon?

NASA's Gateway to the Solar System!

The return to the moon is underway with a new space ship being constructed in the U.S. for a return mission and the establishment of a Moon Base and first human travel to Mars by 2030? The Trump administration believe that with the current technology available all of this can be achieved within the next eleven years!

Wither this is true or not by 2030 NASA hopes that the International Space Station ISS will be defunct and some of its component parts will be cannibalised for the Moon base? At this time there is n mention of reinstating the space shuttle programme which on paper still remains a viable proposal for inter-planetary travel!

Both China and Israel now have probes working on the Moon to gather much needed data on radiation exposure from the Suns solar flares and other problems that were discovered during the Apollo flights back in the 1970's!

Roads? Part-One.

Paths to Roman Roads!

In times past there were not many roads anywhere in the world, most people moved along pathways through forest and swamp, while others travelled by boat on the sea, rivers and lakes of various types?

Important trade routes were the roads of the day and mostly used by the wealthy and merchants selling their wares? The Romans were the first to build roads that networked their cities and settlements, since they were very much into communications and needed to move their armies around the country, where there was no access to big rivers!

What was left after them was still being used up to this day, across Europe and the Middle-East. But the steam engine changed our world two-hundred years ago with the speed of travel and the ability to go through tunnels.

The German auto-ban or Motorway was the big 20th Century revolution in relation to the car, and after 1946 this has been the choke filled way to travel! More money today is spent on building and widening new roads and any other form of travel!

Last days of Cassini!

Space, 'Big Bucks?

It will be the travelling into inner space in the next fifty years that will encourage big bucks and business for Virgin and the many who will follow with their Space planes?

Robotic Space craft Cassini is now ending its life travelling around the gas giant Saturn and its rings for the last fourteen years, before it makes the final death plunge on the 15th of September?  It was one of a series of probes which has lead the way to the New Horizons to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt, and Juno has now arrived at Jupiter to make an in depth study of this gas giant the largest planet in our Solar System.

A new rover is planned to visit Venus and another Robotic car for Mars, which will tell us if it is really viable to have a human occupied base there? Humanity is a curios species, we have always like to know what was over the hill and that is how we have spread out across Earth!

Human settlement for the Moon and Mars is the goals for this century, but mining will probably we one of the ultimate goals for our race, as we move more and more into the computer age?

Britains New Trains.

Sleek Speed.

Progress is all about getting from A to B/Z faster and in more comfort and so it would seem that the introduction of newer stock is required to do this? Many people who use the trains on a regular bases across mainland U.K. are frustrated with the rise in fares and lack of comfort to get a seat?

Over the years much misinformation has been passed to the media over several issues such as the need of no guards on trains and the availability of stock in certain areas? Much of this is based around costs and the loss of lucrative profits?

Other issues not only with trains, but also buses has been that of making space available for disabled people? This will require a massive change of attitudes to end the despising of the disabled and older folks, while also investing in modernising infrastructure and making everything level?

Interstellar Travel. Part-Two.

New Discovery!

A British designer has invented what was considered ten years ago and Electro-Magnetic engine, which defies the laws of gravity explained by Sir Isaac Newton? This was thought to be another crank working in a shed, because his engine would do nothing here on Earth?

But once the machine is in a vacuum, it does something that defies all the known ideas we have on gravity? It works by  being bounced off the magnetic field of the Earth and is powered by the radiation, that already exists in Space.

I don't think they are ready yet to build one, in case they might loose control of it?

But now Star Trek is not as science-fiction as it was, and the development is continuing with the hope to fly one in Space soon? They have already worked out at NASA that a smaller object would move much faster than a larger one, but this new propulsion system may give Interstellar travel much sooner than we thought was possible?

It's Christmas. Part-Two.

Ice Vehicles.

There is a whole plethora of tracked, sled and four plus wheeled drive vehicles across snowy world to come with both permanent snow and winter conditions. But it amazes me that still the U.K. is not able or wants to be able to operate normally in snow.

Back in the 1970's British Rail always excused its stock problem delays with its the leaves on the line or I once hear on a train 'its the BR pork pies.'

It is claimed by many experts that snow varies from country to country and that is why it's not worth investing here in the complex machinery needed. Airlines and rail enjoy making money out of the traveller and it would seem sensible to not cause them delays.

Time Machines.

Travelling into the Future.

The Science-fiction writer H.G. Wells was the first to propose the idea of 'a time machine' and since then the idea has spread into many other sci-fi books and films. Wells machine went forward to see a bleak future for humanity, with machines taking over from man. 

Meanwhile in the Star Trek series time is played with to a point where it becomes ridiculous. Back to the Future, is more of a comedy and several other film concepts have off-shot from this one.

 In the Stargate SG-1 world we are dealing with dimensional universes and ancient technologies and again there has been various off-shoots, such as the short lived Atlantis. These are then part of the perhaps best known.

But is it possible in reality, the answer in current science is No. Time is continuous and we only can see the past events in our universe, because of the time it has taken light to travel to us.

Perhaps one day in say' 500 years from now, if we are still here and can go faster than light we might find a planet, where we could observe light coming from our own sun???

The Final Frontier.

We have all grown up with the concepts of Space, wither it is with Science fiction, Star Trek, Blake 7, Atlantis, Star gate SG-1. The realities of NASA putting the first man on the Moon 40 years ago and the various missions to the planet Mars and other planets in our Solar system.

Space travel was a regular occurrence in the United States, prior to the retirement of the ageing Space shuttle programme.

Space travel plays an important role in communications, Satellite TV, the Internet and weather. It also has many military aspects, that we know very little about accept perhaps for GPS.  Currently thirteen nations are involved in the International space station (ISS). Which one can see flying over some part of the Earth each night.

 Many schools and colleges are involved in connections daily to the astro/cosmonauts, who are on board. The ISS is the largest International gathering of co-operation between nations peacefully for some time.
