Helicopters 75 Years! Part-One.

Come a long Way!

The day of the helicopter is not yet over, despite many new drones are cheaper than keeping an helicopter in the sky? The helicopter derived from gyro-dynamics in aircraft to act like an early form of the Boeing-Vertol Osprey BV-22, which still occupies U.S. military research into the development and deployment of much newer and stable platform, which is changing the battlefield from science-fiction to reality!

Today nearly anyone can go up in a helicopter from pleasure flying to search and rescue? The small machines are in the Robinson family, while Bell and Sikorsky have held both the military and commercial market, go to any horse racing event and there are more helicopters between the tracks now parked up since riders cover more than one meeting a day?

The largest machines are still dominated by the Russians and Ukrainians with the Mil Mi-26 capable of carrying three tracked vehicles and one hundred and twenty-five combat troops! This helicopter was a development of the Mi-6 well known is Russia as the Cow because it was slow and vulnerable to ground rocket fire?

Mid range giants are the Chinook, Boeing-Vertol CH-47, which has been around since the Vietnam wars of the 1960s and the Sikorsky CH-53 Super stallion, S-92 SAR after that is the successful Westland-Leonardo EH-101 and the various derivatives of the Puma SA-330 to the H332 Super Puma that dominates the North Sea oil and gas supply rigs and wind turbines.

Europe has also taken the lead of the world market with the H-135/145 helicopter in Air Ambulance and police, electric line work along with several other smaller types?

Ambulances. One.

Mercedes Sprinter!

The need of a medical corps or the need to transport the ill to a hospital goes back millennium with pack animals and horses pulling a wagon of some type, but since the advent of the petrol engine many vehicles have been adapted for this role!

Today the Ambulance is a mobile medical centre, but remains limited and this depends in what country one may be ill in? In Israel and the U.S Emergency vehicles along with many European countries have some of the best state of the art facilities being enabled to treat on the scene thus saving time, money and lives!

Here in the U.K. much was made about the introduction of this new type of ambulance, but cuts have been made by the NHS and experience in one can be like being on a Merry-go-round? All emergency vehicles one believes should have four by four drive and be fairly stable, especially in the light of recent terrorist attacks here in the U.K. (England) this year?

Retrun of the Trams.

The three U.K. Types.

The need for the tram has returned to the United Kingdom, not for love of them but rather for their vital need in inner city urban fast transport. Great Britain was the origins of the trams from Swansea in Wales to Yorkshire to Blackpool. From horse drawn to their hey day in electrification.

The first trams suffered from two problems one they were hard to turn and two if the line was blocked end of the journey. Today priority has been granted to the three types in operation across the U.K with more being planned for Scotland and Wales.

Bombardier M5000 Flexity-2 Swift working Manchester, these 70 seats have a speed of 43 mph.  These are one of three different types in service. The Sheffield Super Tram and more than six new type Stadler trams for the Croydon area network in south-London.

Not all areas have been mentioned, but hope to follow on looking at each type. The DLR, Newcastle Metro and Glasgow tube will be dealt with in separate articles, as some already have been.

Classic Automobiles.

From day one to now.

Modern humanity today cannot now survive without the 'Automobile, it was also the same prior to the development of the car that we relied on the horse and cart for thousands of years.

When does are car become a classic?

Ten years old, twenty or more, some actually just after they have been revealed to the public. Because their design and build and their limited number produced, is the factor that makes them very desirable.

What kind of car do you consider to be a classic?

Everyone will have their own favourites so I will state my own cars that I would like to have.

Mustang,  Rolls Royce silver Ghost,  Jensen,  Triumph Stag,  Mercedes-Benz 1300,  Austin Riley,  Riva Cossack, Jaguar of any type or period and the Lamborghini in orange.

The Automobile, Car. Part-One.

Horseless Carriage.

The automobile/car is the most prolific vehicle that humanity has yet conceived! The car started off as a steam powered machine, but with the advent of the petrol engine it has never looked back. For the first time, as far as we know humanity had a carriage, without the need of a horse.

Today there are hundreds of types, makes of cars and vans across the globe. Nearly every country in the world is able to build some form of the car, from a very basic model to the very advanced hydrogen version.

What I intend to do is split this subject in to three parts, first the conception of the car and its uses and developments. Then move on to its construction and design and last of all it negative aspects.

The car is like a carriage or trap, it conveys a small number of people 1-5 from A to Z, it has a effective range and is comfortable. The advantages of the car is one of protective covering and the other of speed and no need to have an animal.

But petrol and later diesel and LPG gas became available for more economic reasons, to do with world conflicts and the price of petroleum.
