Thinking outside the Box!
There has to be alternatives for vehicles and machines to what is happening now?
The media addresses aviation and plastic as the biggest pollutants, but the reality is the dumping of chemicals by heavy industry and the burning of Diesel and petrol!
Engines produce carbon monoxide which is the main cause of asthma and other respiratory diseases and this has been known for some time, sowing more tree and offering inhalers is not enough when humanity can reach the stars?
Currently we have LPG (Liquid petroleum Gas), solar power, battery and electric engine developments, but the truth be told nothing much has changed with some of these technologies since 1895!
The question is why is this all taking so long and the answer to that question is big business and human greed to make a quick investment hoping that in at least three hundred years from now we will have found better alternatives if they make us money?

Pollution! Part-One.
Fire, steam, electric and Nuclear?
Through the last two hundred years humanity has moved from the burning of wood to splitting the Atomic atom and yet we remain limited to the use of fossil fuels to keep our world of manufacturing and travel to derivatives of oil for most vehicles, shipping, trains and aviation?
One has only to live by the coast to see the effects of polluted smog gathering in the mid summer afternoons to know that the petrol engine is a serious problem to human health!
Governments do need to wake up and reduce traffic on roads and find quick alternatives to our reliance on petrol, oil and coal?
LPG Conversions might be the solution for many between now and the compulsory introduction of battery and electric vehicles?

Rail and Tram options. Two.
London Overloaded?
Currently the capital of the United Kingdom is overloaded in relation to pressure on transport needs? Millions is being spent on Cross rail, planned extension's to the Bakerloo Line and the DLR, but this still will not stop the problems of overloading?
Plans are a foot to replace the diesel bus fleet with new Italian Electric buses, some are already in service. But what they lack is capacity and this short term ploy will not really help the situation that worsens daily?
Thames link has purchased a fleet of plug trains that are walk through, and these are much longer than previous stock, thus much work is underway to make station platforms longer!
The opportunity of extending the tram network in London would help, even if it was based on the original layout?
Cost is not a problem for the capital, but lack of vision is and until some really good city Mayor comes to the fore, things will only get slower and tempers frayed??

Alternative Energy.
Diesel and bio-Fuel.
Most of the machines that are working today around the world are operated by Diesel engines, until recently this was thought to be the best performance fuel over that of petrol?
Many nations want to use alternative energy over that of the fossil fuels of coal, gas and oil, but two factors come to the fore?
One cost and two much of what we have in alternative energy will not power the plethora of machines in existence around the world?
When Diesel invented his first engine it was powered by peanut oil and this has lead to much research into various forms of bio-fuel mixtures, lead by the aviation industry! Cost is the main factor in the production of hybrids other than motor cars and it may be some time before we will get over our new pollution problems?
Electric engines are and can be made across the board in relation to the railways, the main problems is again cost as in the GWR Padding to Swansea plan being cancelled in the U.K. The other is that third rail is susceptible to the weather from slipping leaf fall to frost, ice and snow fall?

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016.
More of What?
It would seem that the idea of the drone was the future last year, but now with so many incidents of near misses with aircraft and many other machines perhaps not?
Military and Police drones are perhaps being perfected for future use, but not the near future. NASA has twins with a new rocket propulsion system and the first SpaceEX return rocket from 125 miles up in one piece, this is technology where money is to be made in the commercial satellite market.
With the drop in oil prices and other fossil fuels, the demand for alternative's has been put on hold. With diesel at less than a pound in the U.K. 'I am afraid pollution or carbon emissions are going to be a problem despite the recent Paris, France conference.
One has to wonder sometimes about all this climate change, when military jets and missiles are being fired again in the middle-east how much of a carbon footprint do they make?
