Ukraine Situation?

 What is really Airborne!

The media reporting if true makes out Russia to be a weak superpower, but that cannot be so when it has a population of over two hundred and seventy three million people thus its military is far bigger compared to Ukraine's 17 million population and size of its armed forces?

Meanwhile it is not clear what is flying and what is getting shot down since we do not have accurate footage of both air and ground and much of what we see is actually old films of the Soviet era and the war in Chechenya?

Russia has some state of the art air power such as the KA-52 Hokum helicopters and it Sukhoi and MiG jets, which the Ukraine and the west are way behind in technology!

What NATO and the European Union is supplying is unwanted and out dated stock pile, with some battlefield drones

Modern Military Armour?

Since 2001 Decline of Information!

The worlds armour of today has become more technical than it ever was before, many new developments for the U.S./British Abrams/Challenger MBT (Main battle Tank) is now standard in all new armour and the world of the robotic drone is coming to the fore on the battlefield as much as in air power?

Automated drones will save the lives of soldiers in difficult places, but to what extent these vehicles are being deployed is not known!

Most wars being fought today against militants in the Middle-East and C-Asia are light pick-ups known as ''Technicals'' and these are so light that aerial drones can pick them off the field!

Armour protection with Kevlar and many new materials are being deployed, but upgraded vehicles are nearly always based on existing system's !

Fighter Jets. Part-One.

Eurofighter to the F-16.

As technology progresses we start to run into limitations, back in the 1960's despite the U.S. Soviet Russian arms race there was a variety of combat aircraft. Today Europe has chosen with the RAF one type, but other N.A.T.O. countries also operate the U.S. F-16, it in its own right as a standard fighter.

Meanwhile despite the British Panavia Tornado, only Sweden has a stand alone fighter the AJ/JA-37 Viggen in Europe. Many former Warsaw pact nations have now adopted the F-16 as their main combat type.

The Ukraine stands alone with many former Russian types from the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23/27 to the 31/33 and a whole host of other advanced types. France has operated their own design of Mirage from first concept to the present Rafael, since they were outside the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Which is the best of this bunch, my money would remain on the F-16, because of its versatility, second choice would be the Viggen and last the Sukhoi SU-27. These to for me are the best fighters for interception and combat missions, One cannot really know much, because of the many secrets that all fighter aircraft have to have!
